Things Gathered That Had Fallen

Things Gathered That Had Fallen: A Visual Poem

On her walks this fall my wife looks for beauty that has fallen to the ground. She picks up one item each time to bring home. These accumulated, formerly living things she then gathered into a vase.

The colors and textures interact and communicate to me something beyond words. I have ideas, but I'd rather you imagine what might be suggested by this arrangement. I chose to make an image in the still life tradition.

Do the plants and their colors suggest anything to you? Do they suggest anything about you?

What emotions are evoked as you look at the image?

Are any memories stirred?

Are any hopes kindled that had slowly died?

Is there something larger and universal suggested by these small particulars?
